The R449 Voltage Regulator (AVR) delivers closed-loop control of alternator output voltage by regulating the exciter field current. It operates with AREP or PMG excitation systems and comes standard on Leroy-Somer 8100 and 9100 Series alternators, including compatible models such as LSA51.2, LSA53.1 and LSA54.
The R449 AVR provides ±0.5% steady-state voltage regulation, supports short-circuit capability of 3 × rated current for 10 seconds, and accepts multiple voltage-sensing ranges (110 V, 220 V, 380–520 V at 50/60 Hz). You can select a normal response time (1 sec) or rapid response (0.3 sec) for ±20% voltage variations. It also supports ±5% remote voltage adjustment.
The built-in Load Adjustment Module (LAM) automatically reduces voltage by ~15% during load impact when generator speed drops below the preset frequency threshold, improving stability by reducing active load by ~25% until rated speed recovers.
The R449 AVR includes adjustment capabilities for quadrature droop and output voltage, enhancing system performance and compatibility across generator applications.
