The ESD5500E Series Speed Control Unit delivers fast, precise electronic control of engine speed during transient load changes. When you pair it with a proportional electric actuator and a magnetic speed sensor, the unit actively governs a wide range of engines in isochronous or droop mode.
The ESD5500E maintains strict engine speed regulation regardless of load, keeping generator output stable as demand increases or decreases. By adjusting engine speed to match load requirements, the controller helps reduce fuel consumption and operating costs.
Built for high reliability, the rugged ESD5500E withstands harsh engine environments. It supports accessory inputs for load sharing and variable-speed operation and works seamlessly with any GAC actuator, including throttle body, pump-mounted, engine-mounted, and universal actuators.
An electronic speed control system uses four key components—flywheel, magnetic speed pickup, speed controller, and actuator. The speed controller continuously compares the desired engine speed with the signal from the magnetic pickup and adjusts fuel delivery to maintain precise control.
